Incheon Airport to Busan (2026): KTX, Airport Bus or Flight

Last checked: October 16, 2026 · Sources: Incheon Airport, T-money intercity bus, Kobus, AREX, Korail and VisitKorea, linked below.

There are three ways from Incheon Airport to Busan. A direct airport bus takes you to Haeundae or East Busan in one seat, in about 5 to 6 hours. The train route is AREX to Seoul Station, then a KTX to Busan, because no KTX leaves from the airport itself. Korean Air also flies Incheon to Busan’s Gimhae Airport about five times a day, but only as part of an international ticket: Korean Air says the domestic leg can’t be booked or ticketed on its own.

Which option should you pick?

Airport bus AREX + KTX Domestic flight
From T1 1F stop 10 / T2 B1 stop 4 (Sasang: B1 stop 3) AREX station, B1 Transportation Center Terminal 2
To Haeundae, East Busan (Dongbu), Sasang, Dongrae Seoul Station, then a KTX to Busan Gimhae Airport (PUS)
Changes None 1 (at Seoul Station) None if it’s on your ticket
Time 5:00 to East Busan, 5:40 to Haeundae from T1 (timetable estimate) AREX 43–66 min + KTX about 2h20–2h50 Check your ticket (flight time not listed on the airport’s board)
Adult fare ₩53,900–₩91,300 by class, stop and late-night fare ₩4,750–₩13,000 AREX + ₩54,400 KTX Part of your airline ticket
Book on T-money intercity bus site or app Korail website or Korail+ app Your airline, with the international flight

Our view: with big bags and a hotel in Haeundae, we’d take the bus. It drops you at Haeundae with no stairs or transfers. The KTX route makes sense if you’re staying near Busan Station or Seomyeon, or if you’d rather not sit on a bus for six hours.

Is there a direct KTX from Incheon Airport to Busan?

No. The only train into the city on Incheon Airport’s train page is AREX, which ends at Seoul Station where you change to the KTX. Korail withdrew its Seoul–Incheon Airport KTX from September 1, 2018, saying 77% of the seats ran empty and that it would discuss adding AREX trains with the airport railroad. The only KTX from the airport since then was a temporary service to Gwangju in July 2019. Old blog posts that show “KTX from Incheon Airport” are out of date.

How does the airport bus to Busan work?

These are long-distance intercity buses, not city limousines. Two companies run the Haeundae and East Busan line together. The bus starts at Terminal 2, picks up at Terminal 1 about 20 minutes later, then stops at East Busan (Dongbu) Terminal and ends at Haeundae. Two other lines run twice a day: one to Busan West (Sasang) via Gumi, and one to Dongrae.

Our live check (T-money intercity bus timetable, run October 13, 2026 for Wednesday, October 21 and Saturday, October 24, 2026): the timetable was the same on both days.

From T1 to Departures Times from T1 Excellent (28 seats) Premium (21 seats)
Haeundae 16 a day 06:30, 07:50, 09:00, 09:50, 10:30, 11:10, 12:10, 13:10, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 19:40, 21:00, 22:20, 23:50 ₩58,400 ₩76,100
East Busan (Dongbu) 18 a day Same buses, plus 05:50 and 18:25 (via Dongrae) ₩53,900 ₩70,000
Busan West (Sasang) 2 a day 07:00, 17:40 ₩53,900 —
Dongrae 2 a day 05:50, 18:25 — ₩70,000

From T2, each bus leaves 20 minutes earlier (06:10 to 23:30 on the Haeundae line). The 22:20 is a late-night Excellent bus (₩70,100 to Haeundae, ₩64,700 to East Busan) and the 23:50 a late-night Premium (₩91,300 / ₩84,000). Child fares are about half. Eight days ahead, most buses still had more than half their seats free.

The timetable estimates 5 hours to East Busan and 5 hours 40 minutes to Haeundae from T1, and adds 20 minutes from T2. T-money says these times are for reference only, and traffic changes them.

There is no bus from Incheon Airport to Gimhae Airport. Incheon Airport does list express buses to Gimhae city, which sits next to Busan. These go on Kobus, not T-money. On October 21 there were 4 Premium buses from T1 (08:40, 13:25, 15:45, 18:20) at ₩69,900, about 5 hours 30 minutes. For Busan itself, use the Busan buses above.

How do I buy the bus ticket?

  1. Book online on the T-money intercity bus site (English version: intercitybuse.tmoney.co.kr). Incheon Airport’s bus page sends you there for every regional route except Gimhae. On the English site, pick “IncheonAirport T1” or “T2” as the departure and “Haeundae”, “EastBusan”, “WestBusan” or “BusanDongrae” as the arrival (the Korean site calls them 해운대, 부산동부, 부산서부 and 동래).
  2. Or buy at the airport. At T1, bus ticket booths are inside the terminal next to Exits 4 and 9, and outside near Exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 13. At T2, tickets are sold at the bus terminal on B1 of the Transportation Center.
  3. Board at the stop for your line: T1 1F stop No. 10, or T2 B1 stop No. 4 (No. 3 for Sasang).

VisitKorea says airport buses don’t take cash or transport cards on board, so get the ticket first. Booking cut-offs, card problems and cancellation fees are the same as for other intercity buses; our Korea express bus booking guide covers them, including what to do if your foreign card is refused.

Our view: Incheon Airport tells you to allow 1–2 hours for immigration when you book onward transport. So don’t book a bus that leaves less than about 2 hours after your scheduled landing. If the flight is late, a booking you can cancel costs less than a missed bus.

How does the AREX + KTX route work?

  1. Take AREX from the B1 Transportation Center to Seoul Station. The Express train takes 43 minutes from T1 and 51 from T2 (₩13,000). The All-stop train takes 59 or 66 minutes (₩4,750 from T1, ₩5,350 from T2 with a transport card).
  2. At Seoul Station, change to a KTX for Busan. Korail quotes ₩54,400 for Seoul–Busan since the September 2026 KTX–SRT merger, down from ₩59,800.
  3. The Gyeongbu line ends at Busan Station.
AREX from the airport First Last
Express to Seoul Station T2 05:16 / T1 05:24 T2 22:40 / T1 22:48

The Express timetable is the same on weekdays and holidays. Full AREX details, including the All-stop, are in our Incheon Airport arrival guide.

Book the KTX before you fly if you can: see how to book KTX with a foreign card. How long is the KTX? We searched Korail’s English timetable for Seoul → Busan on Wednesday, October 14, 2026: the fastest KTX trains (08:58 and 15:45) took 2 hours 18 minutes, most took 2 hours 30 to 50 minutes, and a few took 3 hours to 3 hours 25 minutes. Trains run from 05:13 until after 22:00. Korail+ shows each train’s travel time when you search, so pick by that column, not by departure time alone. Since the merger, one search shows trains from both Seoul Station and Suseo in Gangnam, and AREX doesn’t go to Suseo. Pick a Seoul Station departure, check the station on your ticket, and see Seoul Station vs Suseo if it says Suseo.

Our view: book a KTX that leaves at least 3 hours after your scheduled landing. That covers 1–2 hours for immigration and bags, up to about an hour on AREX, and the walk to the platform. Booking it tight only to miss it costs more than an extra half hour in a café.

There’s also airport bus 6004 to KTX Gwangmyeong Station (₩17,000; T1 1F stop No. 6, T2 B1 stop No. 26, T1 07:09–23:04). It’s the first stop on that route. Busan KTX trains do stop there: Korail’s timetable for October 14, 2026 showed Gwangmyeong → Busan trains from 05:32, the fastest in 2 hours 17 minutes. This skips the AREX and the walk at Seoul Station, but the bus runs on roads, so allow for traffic.

Can you fly from Incheon to Busan?

Only as a connection to or from an international flight. Incheon Airport’s flight board for October 13 and 14, 2026 listed five Korean Air flights to Busan Gimhae, all from Terminal 2: KE1401 06:35, KE1403 08:20, KE1405 17:10, KE1407 18:25 and KE1409 19:35. Flight times can change by season, so check the board for your date. Several partner airlines sell seats on them under their own flight numbers.

Incheon Airport calls these “Transit Exclusive Domestic Flights”. If you connect from an international flight:

  1. Follow the transfer signs after landing. You don’t go out to the arrival hall.
  2. Go through transfer security screening with your boarding pass or e-ticket.
  3. No boarding pass yet? Get one at the transfer desk.
  4. Allow extra time if you land at T1, because these flights leave from T2.
Incheon Airport English page showing the steps for transit-exclusive domestic flights: transfer signs, transfer security, transfer desk
Incheon Airport’s official English page for Transit Exclusive Domestic Flights, captured October 16, 2026. (1) Follow the transfer signs after landing. (2) Transfer security screening needs a boarding pass or e-ticket. (3) No boarding pass yet: get one at the transfer desk.

You can’t buy one of these flights on its own. Korean Air says a Transit Exclusive Domestic Flight ticket must be issued as a single ticket with a connecting international flight, and the domestic segment can’t be booked or ticketed separately. Book it on Korean Air’s website or app as part of your trip; if your international flight is on another airline or already bought, ask your ticketing agent whether the leg can be added. Korean Air’s minimum connecting time at Incheon is 60 minutes at Terminal 2 and 90 minutes from Terminal 1 or the Concourse. Coming from overseas, you clear immigration and customs in Busan, not Incheon, your bags are checked through to Busan, and you can’t shop duty-free at Incheon on the way.

At Gimhae, VisitKorea says the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail runs from Airport Station; change at Sasang to Metro Line 2. It’s about 30 minutes to Seomyeon and 70 to Haeundae. A taxi takes about 40 minutes to Seomyeon.

Late arrival at Incheon: what still runs to Busan?

The last Busan buses leave T1 at 22:20 (late-night Excellent) and 23:50 (late-night Premium), or 22:00 and 23:30 from T2, to East Busan and Haeundae. The last AREX Express leaves T1 at 22:48.

Our view: if you land after about 21:00, plan on the 23:50 from T1 (23:30 from T2) rather than racing for a train. Book it ahead: on our check, the 23:50 had 13 of its 21 seats left eight days before.

If something goes wrong

  • Flight delayed and you’ll miss your bus: cancel or change it online before departure. Fees depend on how close to departure you cancel (see the bus booking guide). Then take a later bus. The Haeundae line leaves T1 every 40–80 minutes from 06:30 to 17:00.
  • Bus sold out on T-money: try the same bus from the other terminal, or switch to East Busan, which has two extra departures. Or go by AREX + KTX.
  • Plane late for your KTX: Korail says tickets can be changed free up to 30 minutes before departure, to a train within 7 days of the travel date. After that, ask at the Seoul Station ticket office.
  • Questions about the Busan buses: Gyeongnam Express +82-51-583-7441 or Kyungbuk Express +82-53-355-1241 (numbers on Incheon Airport’s route page). AREX: 1599-7788. Incheon Airport: 1577-2600 (07:00–22:00).
