Gimhae Airport to Busan (2026): Light Rail, Limousine, Taxi

Last checked: October 22, 2026 · Sources: Korea Airports Corporation (Gimhae), Busan-Gimhae Light Rail, Busan Transportation Corporation and VisitKorea — pages linked below.

The cheapest way from Gimhae Airport to Busan is the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail to Sasang, then Busan Metro Line 2. Seomyeon is about 22 minutes of riding plus one change, for 1,600 won by card. For Haeundae with big bags, the airport limousine (9,500 won, card only) or a taxi (about 25,000 won) saves the change at Sasang.

Gimhae Airport is inside Busan, so the light rail and metro are ordinary city transit. You tap the same card on both, and at Sasang you pay only the higher of the two fares, not both. If your flight lands at Incheon, the Incheon Airport to Busan guide compares the bus, KTX and connecting flight.

Gimhae Airport into Busan: Seomyeon by light rail to Sasang and Line 2, about 22 min, 1,600 won; Haeundae or Gwangalli same route 42-55 min, 1,800 won; Haeundae with a big suitcase, limousine 9,500 won card only, Platform 3; Busan Station or Nampo via Seomyeon and Line 1, 34-38 min, 1,800 won; Line 3 via Daejeo; after about 22:30, taxi about 18,000 to 25,000 won

How do you get from arrivals to the light rail?

  1. Clear arrivals and follow the signs for the light rail (경전철, Busan-Gimhae Light Rail). The station is called Airport (공항).
  2. Tap in with T-money, Cashbee or another Korean transport card. Without one, a single-journey light rail ticket costs 1,700 won.
  3. Take a train toward Sasang. It’s the end of the line, about 7 minutes away. Trains run every 5–6 minutes in the daytime.
  4. At Sasang, change to Line 2. Toward Jangsan (장산) is the direction for Seomyeon, Gwangalli and Haeundae.

If you’re at the wrong terminal, a free airport circular bus links the international terminal (Gate 1) and the domestic terminal (Gate 4) every 12 minutes, 05:00–22:48.

Some trips go the other way. Toward Gaya Univ., the light rail reaches Daejeo in 8 minutes, where you can change to Line 3 toward Deokcheon, Yeonsan and Suyeong.

How long does it take, and what does it cost?

We counted the riding times below from each operator’s own timetable. They don’t include walking or waiting at the change, so add 5–10 minutes per change.

Going to Route Riding time Card fare Taxi estimate (standard)
Seomyeon Light rail → Sasang, Line 2 toward Jangsan About 22 min (7 + 14–16) 1,600 won 18,000 won, about 45 min
Busan Station Light rail → Sasang, Line 2 → Seomyeon, Line 1 toward Dadaepo About 34 min 1,800 won Not listed by the airport
Nampo, Jagalchi Same as Busan Station, stay on Line 1 About 38 min 1,800 won Jagalchi Market: 20,000 won, about 60 min
Haeundae Light rail → Sasang, Line 2 toward Jangsan About 52–55 min (7 + 45–48) 1,800 won 25,000 won, about 70 min
Gwangalli Light rail → Sasang, Line 2 toward Jangsan About 42 min (7 + 35) 1,800 won 25,000 won, about 70 min

The fare works like this. The light rail ride to Sasang is 1,600 won by card. Busan Metro charges 1,600 won up to 10 km and 1,800 won beyond it. With a transport card you pay only the highest of the fares, not both. Seomyeon is 7.5 km from Sasang, so it stays at 1,600 won.

That discount needs a transport card and a change within 30 minutes. With single tickets you pay each system separately: 1,700 won on the light rail plus 1,700 or 1,900 won for a Busan Metro QR ticket.

What’s the last train into the city?

The light rail runs until 00:09 from Airport station, but that train reaches Sasang after the last Line 2 trains have gone. These are the last trips that still connect, counted from both timetables:

Going to Leave the airport by Change at Arrive
Seomyeon 23:46 (23:45 on Saturdays and holidays) Sasang, 00:02 Line 2 to Jeonpo Seomyeon 00:16
Haeundae 23:34 Sasang, 23:45 Line 2 to Jangsan (4-minute change) Haeundae 00:32
Busan Station, Nampo 23:14 Sasang 23:27, then Seomyeon 00:00 Line 1 to Sinpyeong Busan Station 00:12, Nampo 00:16
Line 3 (Yeonsan, Suyeong) 23:23 (23:22 on Saturdays and holidays), toward Gaya Univ. Daejeo, 23:40 Line 3 to Suyeong —

The 00:02 Line 2 train ends at Jeonpo, one stop past Seomyeon. For Haeundae, the 23:14 light rail is the safer choice: it gives you 6 minutes at Sasang for the 23:27 train, which reaches Haeundae at 00:15.

The light rail station’s own “last transfer” notice shows later times (23:46 toward Jangsan, 23:57 toward Jeonpo). By both timetables, those trains reach Sasang after Line 2 has gone, so go by the times above.

The first light rail leaves Airport station toward Sasang at 05:33 every day.

Here’s our take: if your flight lands after about 22:30, don’t count on the metro to Busan Station or Nampo. Bags, immigration and a missed change add up fast. A taxi from the rank costs about 20,000 won to Nampo before the night surcharge.

Is the airport limousine worth it?

It is if you’re heading to Haeundae or Seomyeon with a large suitcase and the timing fits. You get one seat and no changes. But the Seomyeon bus leaves only every 70–80 minutes, Haeundae buses can be up to 80 minutes apart, and neither takes cash or transport cards.

Limousine Fare (adult) Departures from the airport Main stops
Seomyeon / Bujeon 6,000 won 07:20, 08:40, 10:00, 11:20, 12:40, 14:00, 15:20, 16:40, 17:50, 19:00, 20:20, 21:30 Jurye Stn, Dongeui Univ. Stn, Seomyeon Stn (Lotte Hotel), Bujeon Market, Bujeon Stn
Haeundae, ending at Jangsan 9,500 won 07:10, 07:50, 08:30, 09:10, 15:30, 16:10, 16:50 Centum City, BEXCO, Haeundae Beach, Jangsan Stn Exit 5
Haeundae, continuing to Gijang 9,500 won 10:10, 10:50, 11:30, 12:10, 12:30, 13:10, 14:10, 15:30, 16:10, 17:10, 17:30, 18:00, 18:50, 19:30, 20:30, 21:40 Same Haeundae stops, then Ananti Cove and Banyan Tree

Both buses use Platform 3 on 1F, between Gates 2 and 3 at the international terminal; the times above are from there, and the bus then calls at the domestic terminal about 5 minutes later. VisitKorea says to buy the ticket first at the counter near Gate 4. The bus company also sells seats ahead on the Bustago app and bustago.or.kr.

The airport warns that these times and fares can change without notice. The bus company’s own timetable matches the times above, but check before you go (limousine help line 070-4620-2727).

Can you take a city bus instead?

Yes, but think about your luggage. The airport’s listing for bus 307 says Busan’s city bus rules allow only a cabin-size carrier per person: up to 20 kg and 50 × 40 × 20 cm.

Bus Goes to Card / cash Hours Stop
307 Dongnae, Centum, BEXCO, Haeundae Beach, Songjeong 1,550 / 1,700 won 05:15–23:20 from the domestic terminal, about every 25 min Stop No. 2, 1F
3003 (express) Jagalchi, Taejongdae 2,100 / 2,200 won 05:00–21:30 Stop No. 2, 1F

Bus 307 makes many stops on the way, so it’s much slower than the train. A change from a city bus to the metro within 30 minutes gets the same transfer discount.

How much is a taxi from Gimhae Airport?

The airport’s estimates, which it says can change with traffic:

To Time Standard Deluxe
Seomyeon (Lotte Hotel) 45 min 18,000 won 32,400 won
Nampo-dong (Jagalchi Market) 60 min 20,000 won 36,000 won
Haeundae (Paradise Hotel) 70 min 25,000 won 45,000 won
Gwangalli 70 min 25,000 won 45,000 won
Taejongdae 80 min 28,000 won 50,400 won

A standard Busan taxi starts at 4,800 won for 2 km, then 100 won per 132 m or 33 seconds. Deluxe and jumbo taxis start at 7,500 won for 3 km. At night a standard taxi adds 20% from 23:00 to midnight, 30% from midnight to 02:00 and 20% from 02:00 to 04:00.

VisitKorea says taxis here take cash, credit cards or a transport card. Follow the taxi signs outside arrivals. To book a ride without a Korean phone number, see our guide to taxi apps for tourists.

Going to Haeundae as a group: what each way costs

Our sums from the fares above. The taxi is the airport’s estimate before traffic and the night surcharge.

People Light rail + metro (1,800 each) Limousine (9,500 each) Standard taxi (about 25,000)
1 1,800 won 9,500 won 25,000 won
2 3,600 won 19,000 won 25,000 won (12,500 each)
3 5,400 won 28,500 won 25,000 won (about 8,300 each)
4 7,200 won 38,000 won 25,000 won (6,250 each)

From three people up, one taxi costs less than limousine seats, and it leaves when you do. The train stays cheapest at any group size, but it means a change at Sasang with your bags. Land between 23:00 and midnight and the taxi adds 20%, about 30,000 won.

Which transport card works?

T-money and Cashbee both get the Busan transfer discount. The light rail lists Hanaro, Mybi, EB, T-money, Cashbee and Korean postpaid cards for it, and Busan Metro’s transfer page names prepaid and postpaid transport cards.

If you already have a T-money card from Seoul, use it here. Our T-money vs WOWPASS vs Climate Card guide explains which card to get.
