After you land at Incheon, you walk from the gate to immigration, then go down to the first floor for your bags and customs, and come out into the arrival hall. SIM counters, currency exchange and the tourist desks are all on that floor. From there you have three ways into Seoul: the AREX train from the basement transportation center, an airport limousine bus, or a taxi. The airport tells you to allow 1–2 hours from landing to clearing immigration before you book onward transport. AREX runs until about 23:30 and night buses fill the hours after that, so even a midnight arrival can reach central Seoul without a taxi.
Times and fares in this guide (checked Oct 7, 2026)
- AREX Express (non-stop to Seoul Station): 13,000 won adult, first train from T2 05:16 / T1 05:24, last T2 22:40 / T1 22:48.
- AREX All-stop to Seoul Station: 4,750 won from T1, 5,350 won from T2 (card fare). Last train to Seoul Station: T2 23:32 / T1 23:38.
- Seoul night buses from the airport (N6000, N6002, N6701, N6703): 17,000–18,000 won, departures between about 23:20 and 04:50.
Which terminal are you landing at?
Incheon has two passenger terminals, T1 and T2. The airport lists Korean Air, Asiana, Jin Air, Air Seoul, Air Busan and Delta among the T2 airlines, while Jeju Air, Trinity Airways, Eastar Jet, Air Premia, Parata Air and Aero K use T1. Codeshares can change this, so check the terminal on your e-ticket.
It matters for one thing on arrival: where your bus or train leaves from. Both terminals have their own AREX station and bus stops, so you don’t need to change terminals to get to Seoul.
Incheon Airport arrival process: the steps in order
| Step | Where | What you do | Official time note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Leave the plane | Boarding gate, 2F | Follow the arrivals signs. If you land at the concourse, take the shuttle train to the main terminal | Shuttle train runs 24/7 |
| 2. Quarantine | Before immigration | Walk through the quarantine checkpoint; show a Q-CODE if your route requires one | — |
| 3. Immigration | After the gate, before baggage claim | Queue in the foreigner lane, show your passport, give fingerprints and a photo | Allow 1–2 hours from landing to clear immigration (airport advice) |
| 4. Baggage claim | 1F | Check the carousel number on the screen, take the escalator down | — |
| 5. Customs | 1F, after baggage | Walk through “Nothing to Declare” or “Goods to Declare”. Carrying animals, meat or plants? Declare them at the animal and plant quarantine counter in the customs area | — |
| 6. Arrival hall | 1F public area | SIM, money, transport cards, tourist desk | — |
| 7. Leave for Seoul | B1 (train), 1F/B1 (buses), 1F (taxis) | Buy a ticket or tap a card | Express 43–51 min, All-stop 59–66 min to Seoul Station |
The arrival halls are lettered A to F at T1 and A to B at T2, with numbered exits (1–14 at T1, 1–10 at T2). We use those exit numbers below, because every counter in the airport is listed by them.
How does immigration work for foreigners at Incheon?
- Follow the signs to immigration. Lines are split: the airport says Korean nationals use the blue line and foreign nationals the red line.
- Have your e-Arrival card (or K-ETA) confirmation ready, along with your passport. Not sure which one you need? See e-Arrival Card vs K-ETA.
- At the counter, hand over your passport. Foreign nationals aged 17 or older must give fingerprints and facial recognition data: you scan your fingers and look at the camera.
- Answer any questions the officer asks. The airport asks travelers to cooperate with face checks and questions.
The automated Smart Entry gates are for registered foreign residents aged 17 and up, Korea Priority Card holders and travelers from places with a mutual-use agreement (Korea Immigration Service lists the U.S.A., Hong Kong and Macao). Everyone else uses the staffed counters.
Priority lanes are open to children under 7, people aged 70 and over, pregnant women, passengers with reduced mobility and a few other groups, according to the airport.
If you have a visa question, the Immigration Contact Center is 1345 (+82-2-1345 from abroad). The immigration office at the airport is +82-32-740-7391~4 (T1) or +82-32-740-7361~4 (T2).
Baggage claim
After immigration, look at the screen in front of you for your flight’s carousel number, then take the escalator or lift down to the first floor. Large items come out at the oversized baggage counter, not the normal belt.
If your bag is damaged, report it right away at the Lost Baggage counter behind the carousels; for a missing bag, deal with your airline. The airline is responsible, and its own compensation rules apply.
What to declare at customs (and what you can skip)
Since May 1, 2023, you don’t fill in a customs form if you have nothing to declare. You just walk through the “Nothing to Declare” channel. The official lane names are “Nothing to Declare” and “Goods to Declare”; we couldn’t find an official source for the lane colours, so look for the words.
Use “Goods to Declare” and fill in the form (paper, or the Korea Customs Service app or web form) if you’re bringing:
- Goods over the USD 800 duty-free allowance in total. Alcohol (up to 2 bottles, 2 L and USD 400 in total), 200 cigarettes and 100 ml of perfume are counted separately. People under 19 get no alcohol or tobacco allowance.
- More than USD 10,000 in cash or equivalent.
- Meat, sausages, jerky, dairy, eggs, fresh fruit, plants or seeds. Declare these at the animal and plant quarantine counter in the customs area.
- Goods for sale or business samples.
Declaring yourself gets 30% off the duty (up to 200,000 won). Getting caught without declaring means a 40% penalty on top (60% if it happens twice within two years). One form covers a whole family traveling together. Customs at the airport: 032-722-4422 (T1), 032-723-5119 (T2).
Where do I get a SIM card, eSIM or pocket Wi-Fi?
The carrier roaming centers sit on the arrival floor. Some are open around the clock:
| Terminal | 24-hour counters (1F) | Daytime counters (1F) |
|---|---|---|
| T1 | KT, SK Telecom, LG U+ near Arrival Hall F (west side) | KT, SK Telecom, LG U+ near Arrival Hall A (east side), 06:00–22:00 |
| T2 | KT and LG U+ near Exit 4; SK Telecom near Exit 7 | LG U+ near Exit 7, 06:00–22:00 |
A data eSIM bought before you fly needs no counter at all. For prices and which option suits you, see our guide to eSIM vs SIM vs pocket Wi-Fi in Korea.
Want it set up before you land? Creatrip resells an LG U+ eSIM that you install from a QR code: LG U+ eSIM on Creatrip (affiliate link). Check its cancellation terms before you pay.
Cash, ATMs and currency exchange at Incheon Airport
You’ll want some won in cash: T-money says top-ups at its sales points are in Korean won cash.
| Terminal | 24-hour exchange (1F) | Other arrival-floor exchange (06:00–22:00) |
|---|---|---|
| T1 | KB near Arrival Hall B; Woori near Exit 6; Woori near Exit 11 | Hana near Exit 4; KB near Exit 9; Hana inside the baggage claim area (Hall E) |
| T2 | Woori Exchange Center near Exit 7 | Woori near Arrival Hall A; KB between Exits 1–2; Hana near Exits 4 and 10; KB near Arrival Hall B (05:00–20:00) |
24-hour ATMs on the arrival floor are near Exits 4, 6, 9 and 11 at T1 (plus one in the basement by the All-stop train ticket machines), and near Exits 3 and 7 at T2. The airport doesn’t say which ATMs accept foreign cards, so if your card is refused, use an exchange counter instead.

Buying a T-money or Climate Card at the airport
A T-money card pays for the AREX All-stop train, Seoul buses and subway, and many taxis. You can buy one at the airport’s convenience stores; T-money says its Tmoney Travel Card for foreigners is also sold at the staffed bus ticket offices inside Incheon Airport. Top up with cash.
Which card to get: our T-money vs WOWPASS vs Climate Card guide compares prices, top-ups and refunds.
The Seoul Climate Card tourist pass doesn’t help on the way in: it lets you get off at Incheon Airport T1/T2, but you can’t board there with it, and it doesn’t cover airport buses. Pay for the ride into Seoul with T-money or a ticket. Our Climate Card short-term pass guide covers when the pass is worth it.
Incheon Airport to Seoul: AREX Express vs All-stop
Both AREX trains leave from the B1 Transportation Center of each terminal and end at Seoul Station.
| AREX Express | AREX All-stop | |
|---|---|---|
| Stops | None: airport → Seoul Station | Every station, incl. Gimpo Airport, Hongik Univ., Gongdeok |
| Time to Seoul Station | 43 min from T1, 51 min from T2 | 59 min from T1, 66 min from T2 (some trains 2–6 min longer) |
| Adult fare | 13,000 won (AREX shows a regular fare of 18,500 / 19,100 won next to it) | 4,750 won from T1, 5,350 won from T2 (card); Hongik Univ. 4,650 / 5,250 |
| Child fare | 9,500 won (ages 6–12) | Discounted (base 550 won + half the adult extra) |
| How to pay | Buy a ticket at the Express customer center, B1 | Tap T-money, or buy a single-journey card from the machine (+100 won, 500 won deposit back at your exit station) |
| First / last from the airport | T2 05:16 / T1 05:24 — T2 22:40 / T1 22:48 | To Seoul Station: T2 05:08 / T1 05:14 — T2 23:32 / T1 23:38 |
The Express timetable is the same on weekdays and holidays: 26 departures a day from the airport, roughly every 30–65 minutes. Express seats are reserved. All-stop trains run every few minutes at busy times.
Which one we’d pick: take the All-stop if your hotel is near Hongik Univ., Gongdeok or Seoul Station and you can manage your bags. It costs about a third of the Express and is only 16 minutes slower to Seoul Station from T1. The Express makes sense when you want a guaranteed seat with big luggage, or when the next express leaves within a few minutes of your arrival.
Another way to buy the Express ticket: Creatrip sells a discounted AREX Express voucher for foreign visitors (11% off when we checked on October 8, 2026). You pay online, then exchange the voucher for a ticket at the airport. It can’t be cancelled or changed after payment, so buy it once your flight is fixed: AREX Express voucher on Creatrip (affiliate link).
Airport limousine buses to Seoul
Limousine buses are the easiest choice if one stops near your hotel: no stairs, no transfers, bags go underneath. Two main operators run the Seoul routes:
| Airport Limousine | K Airport Limousine (formerly KAL Limousine) | |
|---|---|---|
| Adult fare to downtown Seoul | 17,000 won (16,000 via Gimpo Airport) | 18,000 won (child 12,000) |
| Routes (examples) | 6001 Myeong-dong / Seoul Stn., 6002 Hongdae / Dongdaemun, 6005 City Hall, 6007 Yeouido, 6015 Myeong-dong / Mapo | 6701 City Hall / Gwanghwamun, 6702 Namsan / Dongdaemun, 6703 Gangnam / COEX, 6705A Jamsil |
| Where to board | Bus stops on T1 1F; T2 B1 Transportation Center | T1 stops 3B and 4A (1F); T2 stops 18 and 19 (B1) |
| Tickets | Staffed offices at T1 1F (near Gates 4, 6, 9, 11) and T2 B1; machines open 24 hours | Ticket office next to Gate 4 (T1) or the west ticket offices (T2 B1), or kiosks |
Times vary by route. As an example, K Limousine’s 6701 leaves T1 from 05:35 to 22:25 and T2 from 05:15 to 22:05, every 25–35 minutes. Check your route’s page on the operator’s site before you go. At T1, bus ticket booths are inside the terminal next to Exits 4 and 9, and outside near Exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 13.
Taxi from Incheon Airport
Use the official taxi stands outside the arrival floor. The airport warns that touts and fake “call vans” overcharge, so don’t accept rides offered inside the terminal.
| Taxi type | Base fare | T1 stand | T2 stand | Night surcharge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (Seoul) | 4,800 won | 5C, 6C, 6D | 7C | +20% 22:00–23:00, +40% 23:00–02:00, +20% 02:00–04:00 |
| Deluxe / Jumbo (9 seats) | 7,000 won | 7C / 8C | 7D | +20% 22:00–04:00 (Gyeonggi taxis 23:00–04:00) |
| International Taxi (foreign-language drivers) | Flat fare within Seoul | 4C | 3C | — |
There’s no boundary surcharge from the airport to Seoul, Incheon, Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo or Bucheon. The airport doesn’t publish a total fare to central Seoul, so ask the driver for an estimate or check one in a taxi app (see our guide to taxi apps for tourists (k.ride, Uber, Kakao T)). International Taxi bookings: 1644-2255.
Late-night arrival: what runs after midnight?
AREX stops a little before midnight. The last train of the night (T2 23:50 / T1 23:56) only goes as far as Digital Media City, not Seoul Station. After that, your options are the Seoul night buses or a taxi.
Seoul late-night buses (buy a ticket at a ticket booth or machine before boarding; N6701 and N6703 tickets are also sold in the Tmoney GO app):
| Bus | Goes to | From T2 | From T1 | Adult fare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| N6000 | Songjeong Stn., Yeomchang Stn., Gangnam Express Bus Terminal | 23:50, 00:30, 01:10, 01:50, 03:20, 04:00 | 00:10, 00:50, 01:30, 02:10, 03:40, 04:20 | 17,000 won |
| N6002 | Hongdae, Four Seasons Hotel, Dongdaemun, Cheongnyangni | 23:40, 00:10, 00:40, 01:20, 03:40, 04:20 | 00:00, 00:30, 01:00, 01:40, 04:00, 04:40 | 17,000 won |
| N6701 | Mapo Stn., Seoul Stn., Euljiro, Dongdaemun Design Plaza | 23:30, 00:20, 01:20, 03:25, 04:20 | 23:50, 00:40, 01:40, 03:45, 04:40 | 18,000 won |
| N6703 | Seorae Village, COEX, Jamsil Lotte World, Gangbyeon, Gwangnaru | 23:20, 00:00, 00:45, 01:25, 03:30, 04:30 | 23:40, 00:20, 01:05, 01:45, 03:50, 04:50 | 18,000 won |
Buses leave T2 first and reach T1 about 20 minutes later. From T1 the ride to the last stop takes 70–90 minutes. Child fares are 10,000 won (N6000, N6002) and 12,000 won (N6701, N6703). If you only ride to Songjeong Station, it’s 10,000 won for adults and 6,000 won for children.
Other things that stay open: Airport Limousine’s ticket machines (24 hours), the Airport Bus Information desk near Exit 9 at T2 (24 hours), the 24-hour exchange counters and roaming centers listed above, and the taxi stands. Gyeonggi Province night buses (N4000, N5300, N7000 and others) also leave T1 at 00:30 and 04:10 for cities around Seoul.
Luggage delivery and storage
Seoul Metro’s T-Luggage service delivers bags the same day between the airport and some subway stations. Its airport counters are Hanjin Express on 3F: opposite check-in counter B at T1 and opposite check-in counter H at T2. Staffed counters in the city are at Seoul Station, Hongik Univ. Station, Myeong-dong Station and Gimpo Airport Station. One end of the trip has to be a staffed counter, and it works only on Seoul Metro Lines 1–9. Book at tluggage.co.kr or register on the spot.
The airport also lists courier counters (ZIMCARRY at T1 3F, Hanjin Express at T2 1F and 3F). Prices and hotel delivery options aren’t on the airport’s pages, so ask at the counter.
If something goes wrong on arrival
“The immigration line is huge.”
It happens at busy times. The airport has a real-time wait-times page you can check, and don’t book a fixed-time bus too tightly: the airport says to allow 1–2 hours after landing.
“My bag didn’t arrive.”
Baggage records are handled by each airline, so contact your airline; the Lost Baggage counter is behind the carousels. If you’ve already left the airport, call the airline directly.
“I landed at T1 but my bus or hotel shuttle leaves from T2.”
Take AREX between the terminals (about 6 minutes, 1,200 won by card on AREX’s fare table) or the AIRPORT 04 shuttle bus from T1 3F Gate 8 (04:30–23:20, every 10–20 minutes).
“My card won’t work at the AREX gate.”
The Climate Card pass can’t be used to board at the airport. Use T-money with enough balance, or buy a single-journey card at the machine. For the Express, buy a ticket at the B1 customer center.
“I arrived after the last train.”
Take a Seoul night bus (table above) or a taxi from an official stand. The last AREX train to Seoul Station leaves T1 at 23:38.
“Someone offered me a cheap taxi inside the terminal.”
Say no. Go to the numbered taxi stands outside; the airport warns about overcharging by unofficial vans.
Tourist information and the 1330 helpline
Korea Tourism Organization runs Tourist Information Centers on the arrival floor: at T1 near Exit 5 and Exit 10, and at T2 across from Exit 3, all 07:00–22:00 (+82-32-743-2600~2). They help in English, Japanese and Chinese.
For help anywhere in Korea, call the 1330 Korea Travel Helpline (1330 inside Korea, +82-2-1330 from abroad). It also has a web chat.
